Alongside these identifiers we record which machine and configuration you viewed, the price displayed to you, the rental duration selected, the page you were on, the referring website, and any campaign parameters (such as UTM tags) present in the link you arrived through.
We use this strictly to understand which Mac configurations people are interested in, so that we can decide which hardware to purchase. It is not used for advertising or profiling.
If you prefer not to be counted, you can block or clear local storage for this site in your browser settings, or use private browsing. The website works normally either way.
If you submit an availability request or join an availability list, we collect your email address, the machine and configuration you selected, the price shown to you at that moment, your chosen rental duration, your stated use case, and optionally your desired start date, team size and whether you are willing to speak with us.
We link that submission to the visitor identifier described above so that we understand which configurations were considered before the request was made. Email addresses are normalised (for example, lowercased) so that the same person submitting more than once is counted once.
We record a salted, irreversible hash of your IP address for rate limiting and abuse prevention. We do not store the raw IP address for these requests.
We will use your email address to reply to your request and to contact you about the availability of the machine you asked about. We will not sell it, and we will not add you to unrelated marketing without your consent. Every commercial message we send will identify ICYNET and include a way to unsubscribe, in accordance with Canada's Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). You may ask us to delete your information at any time by emailing info@icynet.ca.
An availability request is not a booking, not a reservation and not a contract, and no payment is taken.
The website analytics and availability-request information described above is stored in a database operated by Turso, hosted on Amazon Web Services infrastructure in Oregon, United States. No Canadian hosting region is currently offered by that provider.
This means the information in section 2a and 2b — including your email address if you submit a request — is stored outside Canada and may be accessible to United States courts, law enforcement and regulatory authorities under the laws of that country, regardless of any protections available in Canada.
This is separate from our hosting service. Mac hardware rented from ICYNET is physically located in our facility in Calgary, Alberta, and does not leave Canada. The statement above concerns only the website's own enquiry and analytics records.
